Cinco de Mayo

Publisher's Voice

Dear Readers,

I hope everyone survived April 15, the day we love to hate! I know I have company when I say it is one of my least favorite days of the year! If you had to pay Uncle Sam, you were among the few who made money last year! Consider yourself one of the lucky ones!
This year we are pleased to be one of the sponsors of the Cinco de Mayo celebration that will take place between Nebraska and Iowa in the Cherokee Business District on May 3 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. This year’s festival will feature live music by Javier Mendoza, Tamborazo Mixteco, The St. Louis Symphony, and Boogie Chyld. There will also be authentic food and drinks, arts and crafts, corporate exhibitors, and street entertainment.

My next comment is made with my fingers crossed! This issue is going to debut on our new and improved website www.thevitalvoice.com. Our new site will offer much more in the line of news and entertainment. It will also feature the opportunity for you, our reader, to submit comments on our articles. Watch for details regarding our website launch party we are planning @ Novak’s, where we will officially debut the site. This event will take place toward the end of May and the beginning of June. More information will be sent out in our e-newsletter.

The deadline for businesses interested in advertising in this year’s Pride Pages is April 30. If you have not spoken with Pamela Merritt or Tess Tulley to renew your ad or place a new ad, you must do so IMMEDIATELY!!! Your window of opportunity is closing fast. The book will go into layout within the next 10 days.

One last reminder, CHARIS will be singing at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, April 25 and Saturday April 26 at the History Museum. The chorus will be joined by Lisa Koch and looks to be a fun-filled evening of good music and good humor. Tickets are $18 at the door; and premium seats cost $25.

Till next issue,
Pam Schneider
