Miss Leon’s Soul Food operated by Leon Braxton and Capitalist Pig owned and operated by Ron Buechele are pleased to announce a new collaborative venture called Miss Leon’s Sunday Supper.
Miss Leon’s Sunday Night Supper serves up its first plate on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at The Capitalist Pig located at 2727 S. 12th St. in Soulard. Supper will be served 5pm-6pm, 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm with a seating capacity of 60 people per setting. Reservations are not required but are suggested. Carryout will also be available.
Miss Leon will be serving her delicious famous fried chicken along with the standard sides of mashed potato and gravy, greens, sweet buttered corn, and mac n cheese. For those who don’t like chicken on the bone Miss Leon will be serving up “Chicken Gobs” which are nuggets of white and dark chicken meat fried to golden perfection. Also, there will be rotating and seasonal sides. Capitalist Pig will compliment this menu with their mouth-watering award-winning corn muffins. Desserts will feature a choice of succulent peach cobbler and decadent bread pudding.
Capitalist Pig takes its inspiration from the idea of fine, handcrafted barbecue. It’s a step above the rest. Their artisan barbeque is made with care, using old-fashioned smoking and curing methods that take more time and produce a better product. It is the juxtaposition of fine food and the time-honored tradition of making great meat. This is barbecue at its best.
At Capitalist Pig, they are also passionate about community. They want to show customers and city that it is possible to operate a business that is sustainable and environmentally sound. They support local farmers and procure products from sustainable sources. Additionally, they practice recycling and composting. You will not find Styrofoam carryout containers at Capitalist Pig. The containers are compostable. From farm to table, they have created an environmentally conscious, artisan barbecue experience that ends with you enjoying delicious food you can feel good about.
Miss Leon’s is the child of St. Louis drag queen Dieta Pepsi. Miss Leon’s started with a cult following while Braxton was providing her delicious AUCE Fried Chicken on Sundays at Rehab Bar and Grill and garnered further attention when she operated a full service soul food restaurant in Bomber’s Hideaway. Soon after Bomber’s closed Miss Leon’s was housed for a brief period at Hiro Asian Kitchen on Washington Ave. Since June 2016 Miss Leon has been doing catering and working at Lion Petroleum as Recipe Development Consultant and Kitchen Manager.
With this collaboration, Miss Leon is once again thrilled to be bringing you soul food that “Tastes like your grandmother’s cooking!” So come and get some stick to your ribs good home cooking made from scratch. V
