Burning Bright, a group exhibition curated and put on by Living Collective and HEX showcasing St. Louis-based artists that identify as women, will open at TechArtista on Saturday, April 8 from 5-8PM to the public for the exhibition opening party and after party featuring local musicians to follow, starting at 8PM. Burning Bright features contemporary artwork by lady artists in the St. Louis community, bringing a strong female presence and influence to the collaborative work space and throughout the city.
“There are so many talented women making wonderful, thought-provoking works of art in St. Louis. This exhibition showcases women who are doing important things that we want to share,” explains Laura Heying, Founder of HEX.
Featured artists include Elizabeth Moore, Lola Ogbara, Britta Buescher, Julianne Wise, Addoley Dzegede, Jessica Bremehr, Lauren Marx, Angelina Fasano, Theresa Moher, Lara Head, Alyssa Knowling, Darcy Campbell, Natalie Baldeon, Kristin Cassidy, Victoria Cates, and Diana Casanova.
The art on display in the exhibition will be for purchase, with 10% of the proceeds going to a charity of the artists’ choice. A shoppable art market featuring participating artists during the opening event will include vendors selling items like prints, pins, patches, apparel and more. Plus, complimentary drinks will be served during the opening event.
“HEX and Living Collective are female-owned businesses and wanted to bring more representation for women artists into our new community at TechArtista, which already hosts incredible works of art from Edo Rosenblith and the Screwed Arts Collective,” Katy Noonan, Owner of Living Collective, stated.
An after party show with local musicians traditional Japanese group Gaku, dream pop duo Wildflower, and other local musicians will follow the exhibition opening at Nomad, which is a new event space that is formerly the Improv Shop. The after party cover will be a $5-7 suggested donation.
Burning Bright will open at TechArtista from 5-8PM on Saturday, April 8 and is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on view at TechArtista until Friday, June 16th 2017. Visit the Facebook event page here.
