Don’t Dream It…Be It! Costume Contest is in its third year as a part of the Let Them Eat Art festival, which is celebrating its sixth year. The costume contest, which will offer prizes in the categories of Best Overall Costume, Best Stylist – Hair and Make-up, Best in the Spirit of Let Them Eat Art, People’s Choice and New Category –Best Tribute to Route 66, will be judged by George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine, Allyson Mace of Sauce Magazine and, Vital Voice’s very own fearless leader, Darin Slyman.
Entries are only $10 and will be accepted through Friday, July 1st, and $15 after. But, if you enter before July 1st, you’ll receive an awesome gift bag.
The contest begins at 7pm, where contestants will strut through the streets of downtown Maplewood, vexing bystanders and earning votes. At 9pm, contestants will have the opportunity to sashay before the panel of judges and the crowd. Let Them Eat Art welcomes the fun, the colorful, the charismatic and the exotic. Prizes of $100 will be given to each winning contestant and their photo will appear on the Maplewood website and on Blacktie St. Louis. Also, the winner of The People’s Choice Award will receive the key to the city!
Prior to the parade of fancy garb, enjoy music by Zydeco Crawdaddys, Panecea, Teaglama & Jane Godfrey, starting at 6pm. And, In addition to the costumes and the performances, there will be child-friendly attractions such as the fire shooting ice cream truck, top spinning, super ball making and impish face painting.
