As Time Goes By

Publisher’s Voice

Dear Readers,

Is it my imagination or does this year seem to be flying by? I can not believe it is almost the beginning of May! I realize I have been VERY occupied with the "cosmetic facelift" of our new building but, Oh My God!!! If all goes well, we will be in our new space sometime in May. Once in, we will have an open house — something to look forward to.

Speaking of transformation, I really LOVE when we have the power to possibly change a particular outcome. For example, word has it our local cable provider (Charter Communications) is undecided about whether to offer you LOGO, a new television network designed specifically for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) audience that was created by MTV Networks and is set to launch June 30. If you can believe it, I received an e-mail suggesting Charter doesn’t think they have any GLBT people living in their markets and that only GLBT people would be interested in GLBT programming. I suggest we take action today to let Charter know there IS demand in their area for this programming. Call Charter Cable at 314-965-0555 and tell them:

"I live in [name of your town] and am calling to request that you offer LOGO on your cable lineup."

Here’s another opportunity to view quality GLBT TV in St. Louis. Screenings of "In The Life" will begin at MoKaBe’s on May 2 and will continue every Monday at 7:30! If you want to see this program picked up by KETC-TV, let them know by calling 314-512-9000.

For more immediate entertainment Hairball will feature RuPaul on May 1. If you have not gotten your tickets, get them as soon as possible because it will surely be a sellout. In case you miss out on Hairball, A Tasteful Affair to benefit Food Outreach is happening the same day at the Chase. The Vital VOICE is again a sponsor of "Race For The Cure" this year. The race takes place on June 28 and we would love to put together a large "Vital VOICE" contingency to walk/run. Please contact us if you would like to be part of our group. You can e-mail me at pschneider@thevitalvoice.com and let me know if we can count on you to join us!

Well, back to the "Manchester facelift."

Till next issue, Pam Schneider
