This summer, the Central West End will celebrate the 100th anniversary of what many have claimed as the first cocktail party on record — held in 1917 by Mrs. Julius S. Walsh Jr. in her home at 4510 Lindell.

The occasion will be marked by the second annual Central West End Cocktail Party, an event that drew thousands of people to the streets of the CWE last June. Photos from 2016’s cocktail party available here.

Guests will be able to enjoy live entertainment, a spirited cocktail competition and, of course, delicious food and drinks available for purchase from more than a dozen participating CWE bars and restaurants.

Featuring music by Guerrilla Swing (5-8 p.m.), Gatsby Gang Jazz Band (5:30-7:30 p.m.) and Funky Butt Brass Band (8-10 p.m.), as well as performances by fire dancers and the St. Louis Jitterbugs. Dancakes will be available from 5-7 p.m. in our kids’ zone.

This event is free and open to the public. More details coming soon towww.cwecocktailparty.com. V
