“Everything has a price,” is one of those old sayings we’ve all heard. Arthur Miller uses it as the basis for this play, but he doesn’t stop with the easy cliché. Instead, he delves deeply into the psyches of two estranged brothers, their shared history, and their current circumstances to examine whether the price we pay is a fair one. The balance shifts throughout. In the beginning it appears that Victor (John Contini) has paid too high a price for doing the right thing, while his brother, Walter, (Peter Mayer) got off easily by being selfish.

Shortly before my Grandma Andoe passed away she began spilling the family secrets, including stories about the womanizing of my late Granddad, Sam Andoe. He was a tall, confident, and good looking man
who worked in the shipyards and drove trucks. Legend is he had women all over the place. It was a  Thanksgiving when my ninety year old grandma unexpectedly decided to let the stories rip.

In 1999 Boxers ‘n Briefs opened its doors to great fanfare as the Midwest’s only all nude male strip club. In honor of Black History Month we pay tribute to St. Louis’ own, Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975). Striking and statuesque, the Gateway City-born dancer, singer and actress was nicknamed the “Bronze Venus,” the “Black Pearl” and even the “Créole Goddess.” But it was across her beloved Europe where she was known best—as simply “La Baker.”

To some of you, the brands Manhunt, Adam4Adam, Grindr, BlackGayChat and DList will all sound very, very familiar. This is because Homovirotica has become our new sexual reality. These websites, along with social networks like Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr, are connecting queer men around the world to on another in an endless maze of bare muscles and naked desires. Here, pixels explode in a blurry orgy of color and flesh where fantasies become public domain and cameras and computers have become our new gods. They teach us how to live, how to love and how to fck.

Review: “Shadowlands”

Shadowland

I find it fascinating that Clive Staples “Jack” Lewis published a book about his conversion experience and called it Surprised by Joy. At the time of its 1955 publication, he had met an American admirer, Helen Joy Davidson Gresham (called “Joy”), but did not yet realize that this relationship was, in fact, a love match. Or maybe he did.
