LOUIS –  Despite Oscar parties and tornadic winds of 70 miles per hour, leather and art lovers flocked to Just John Nightclub, Feb. 27 to see the unveiling of the statue created by Mr. Midwest Leather, Philip Hitchcock.  Also on view and up for auction were the statues created live on stage two weeks earlier of semi-finalists Lee Spain, Jeremy Wright, and Dan Hopkins.

ST. LOUIS –  Mr. Missouri Leather (MML) 2011 was held at JJ’s Clubhouse in St. Louis, Missouri the weekend of February 25-27. Gateway Motorcycle Club has produced this event since 1983 which is one of the longest running annual Leather contests in the country that is sponsored by a single club.

Facebook adds ‘Civil Union,’ ‘Domestic Partnership’ Options to User Profiles

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, today (Feb. 17) applauded Facebook for adding ‘In a Civil Union’ and ‘In a Domestic Partnership’ options to user profiles. The option is now available for users in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Australia.

LOUIS – The Lesbian Gay Bi Transgender Community Center of Metropolitan St. Louis has announced its new Board of Directors, appointed to revitalize its plan to grow and develop into the nucleus of LGBT organizations in St. Louis. Through service, outreach, and education, the goal of The Center is to become the heart beat of the community.

Hawaii State House Approves Landmark Bill

HONOLULU – Equality Hawaii, the state’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, and the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization, today applauded the Hawaii State House for passing SB 232 SD1 HD1 by a 31-19 vote.  The bill provides that equal rights and responsibilities of married couples in Hawaii be afforded to thousands of non-married couples in the state – including same-sex couples.
