ST. LOUIS – The Lesbian Gay Bi Transgender Community Center of Metropolitan St. Louis announced, April 15 that LGBT Center of St. Louis Founder, Muriel “Blue” Jones will vacate the position of Executive Director on June 1, 2011. The LGBT Center of St. Louis Board will step in to assume all Executive Director duties and has subsequently formed an E.D. Search Committee.

Delaware House Passes Landmark Civil Unions Bill

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, and Equality Delaware, Delaware’s statewide coalition of LGBT advocates, congratulates the Delaware House for passing civil unions by an 26 to 15 vote, April 14. The bill now goes to Governor Markell for his signature.

WASHINGTON – The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, hailed the Senate bipartisan reintroduction of an inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), April 14 which would create federal protections against workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.  The bill is a critical piece of an economic empowerment agenda for the LGBT community, as detailed in a recent memo by HRC.

Hawaii Legislature Passes Transgender Employment Protections

HONOLULU – Equality Hawaii, the state’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, and the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization  congratulated the Hawaii Senate for passing a bill codifying prohibitions against discrimination in employment on the basis of gender identity by a 22 to 2 vote, April 12. The bill moves to Governor Abercrombie for his signature.
