Many in the LGBT community joined Missouri voters last November in passing Proposition B, the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act, but outstate legislators lead by Puppy Mill Advocate Mike Parson will begin a full assault on the law tomorrow.

The Humane Society of the Unites States reports that politicians have introduced nine bills to repeal or remove the core provisions of Proposition B which provides basic standards of care for dogs at large-scale breeding facilities. The first hearing on these bills begins, Jan. 25.

Pearson New President of StL Black Pride

ST. LOUIS — The Engine 9 Experience announced, Jan. 19 that Audrey Pearson will assume the role of president of the St. Louis Black Gay & Lesbian Pride Committee. Pearson will take over the reigns of the area LGBT non-profit from longtime activist, Erise Williams, Jr.

The 12th Annual St. Louis Black Gay & Lesbian Pride Festival is slated for August 19-21, 2011. The organization is actively seeking volunteers, ideas and donations for its upcoming celebration.

NJ-GayMensChorus-PostcardNew Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a landmark Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights into law, Jan. 6. The legislation, passed almost unanimously by both houses of the state legislature in November, is the toughest state anti-bullying law in the country. The new law mandates specific anti-bullying procedures for schools across the state and also covers public universities.

NOM To Disclose Tax Returns

51580090WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following an onsite request by the Human Rights Campaign, the National Organization for Marriage today released its 2009 Form 990, the tax return they are required to submit to the IRS.  NOM dated its 990 November 14, 2010, yet did not disclose it publicly until today when it gave an HRC representative a hard-copy of the tax return.
