Characters Spy vs. Spy roamed around the room promoting a number of raffles during the course of the event, while VV’s squirrel posed with Dieta Pepsi and guests for photos.

There were servers walking around with delectable snacks and cash bars as visitors roamed about tasting over 40-top culinary group food samples that varied from pulled pork, sushi, breaded pudding, non-dairy smoothies, and to large meatballs.

As the focal point and involvement for the event, an array of items were auctioned off. The list of items ranged from meal tickets to restaurants, tickets to the Opera House, gift baskets, massages, and to bread for a year.  Some of the items were spread among three tables numbered with 3D balloons as an indicator for guests to place their bid on auction items.

The two MC’s, Hiedi Glaus from KSDK and Maggie Crane from KMOV, worked the main stage by pulling the winning raffle number tickets and announcing the prizes that the winners won.

Greg Lukeman, head of Food Outreach, greeted each guest by the main entrance with a smile and complimentary tote bag. The non-profit organization wanted to raise awareness and money for food and enhancement of the quality of life for men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS or cancer in the St. Louis Metro area.

About 1500 people attend the event each year and Lukeman wanted to do something different this time around.

“We try to make it bigger and better every year…while engaging more people while they are here,” said Lukeman.  “We want them to make the event whatever they want.”
